Kalaimamani Charulatha
Jayaraman has carved a niche for herself among the new
genre of bharatnatyam exponents.
Charulatha has
had initial grooming under the tutelage of Guru Smt. Indira
Rajan and Guru Smt. Suba Parmar. Later, she pursued training
under Guru Smt. Subhashini Chandrasekaran.
A post graduate in information
technology, Charulatha has set her foot on almost all
the renowned stages of our land. She is the recipient
of the most coveted award "Kalaimamani" conferred
by the government of Tamilnadu.
Over 300 solo performances to her credit, Charulatha had
the unique honour of the being the youngest performer
at the National festival of classical dance and music
at Agartala, Tripura. She has been invited to perform
at some of the major cultural festivals that include Navratri
festival-Srilanka, Swaralaya music and dance festival-
Konark Music and Dance Festival-Orissa,
Palakkad, Soorya Parampara-Trivandrum, Mamallapuram fesival,
Natyanjali festival, Bharat utsav-Sikkim, Kolkata and
SATTE –Delhi. She has also donned the lead role
in many dance dramas like "Kuraloviyam," "Kutrala
Kuravanji"," Ramayan","Elements of
nature" "Radhaiyinkadhal","krishnaleela","Parameshwara"
etc, " Navarasa Natya Nayaki", Natya Thendral",
"Abhinaya Ratna" are some of the titles conferred
upon her.
Her recitals combine superior artistry with emotional
directness. Needless to say, her unique style in dance
has been a wonderful treat to the eyes of many art lovers.
Gifted with a wonderful stage presence she personifies
elegance on stage. The dancer's idealistic vision of promoting
Indian culture through classical dance has vigorously
energized her spirits. The divine art which has touched
her soul and spirit is both her passion and prayer
